Walking from the Stillwell Avenue subway station to the stadium today, the bitter 28-degree cold hugging me tightly, I couldn’t help but feel so crazily-excited for the season to start. Last year in 2020? 2021? Who knows what year it was... Anyway, last year, believe it or not, we had a season. A full season*. But really, the season was simply a taste of the new-look lifestyle in Coney Island.

This year, 2022, is the new normal.

Baseball games in April.

One hundred and thirty- two games (132) between April and September.

The highs and lows.

The ebbs and flows.

High-A baseball in New York City.

Last year, in 2021, we started in May. We played 120 games. We started with capacity crowds at 20%. We took baby steps towards our new life after the first 19 seasons as a 76-game short-season team that started on June 15. By June 15th of this year, we’ll be 58 games in. So. Much. Baseball.

But now we joint he rest of the baseball world in the full season. We used to turn the calendar into January and still have to wait six-and-a-half months for baseball. Now, we’re in rhythm.

Brooklyn, be not weary. Baseball is coming.

The Brooklyn Cyclones home opener is April 12th after three games in Wilmington starting April 8.

It’s closer than ever. Literally.

And we can’t wait to see you here with us.
